About
Rebecca
“Tell me about yourself.”
I think that’s one of the hardest questions to answer because of the
fear of boring people. So, I decided I’ll give you the basics. If you
want to know more, have any questions or your curiosity just gets the
better of you about one thing or another, e-mail will get you the long
version.
Let’s start with VITAL STATISTICS:
I was born in St. Louis Missouri but grew up in Southern California. Two
of my brothers (I’m one of six) still live in St. Louis. I am married to
a man I met in high school. Twist my arm and I’ll tell you he’s the
funniest person I ever met. As a Superior Court Judge, he’s also the
inspiration for my legal thrillers. My pride and joy? Two fabulous sons.
Both are exceptionally talented entertainers. My oldest is hoping for a
career in film, my youngest is in theater.
Now, on to WRITING:
It’s true, a dear friend of mine dared me to write my first book. I’ll
never know what possessed me to take up the challenge, but I’m delighted
I did. Writing opened up a world filled with challenge and creativity
just when I was in need of a second career. I have written in many
genres, under more than one name, and I find that there is always
something new to learn. Every book feels like the first one. The thrill
of seeing a new book on the stands can’t be beat. For those of you who
have a book in your heart, consider this your dare. There is nothing
lost by trying and so much to be gained.
Finally, THINGS I LOVE OTHER THAN WRITING:
I love fabric. My mother taught me how to sew when I was very young and
I’ve never lost the passion for it, though I do more quilting these days
than tailoring.
I love to play tennis. I play on a local league (USTA 4.0 for those who
are curious). I think it terribly important to find a sport to love. My
favorite shots: my serve and backhand volley.
I love to give speeches. Give me a topic and I’ll talk about it. Some of
my favorites include: how to move into a second career, looking for
inspiration in our own backyards, why lawyers are so interesting, how to
apply creativity to business or business to creativity. (My first career
was in marketing and I have an MBA from Loyola, Los Angeles)
Most of all, I love to encourage the creative child. On this website you
will see pictures taken by Hannah Levenson, a sophomore in high school
who is on her way to becoming a fabulous photographer. I’ve been honored
to work with writers of all ages – from 5- 85 (no kidding). I work with
an incredible group of women who run The Young Writer’s Conference. We
go into schools and help kids overcome a fear of writing.
There it is - my life in a nutshell. Thank you for stopping by my site,
thank you for reading my books. I hope your days are also filled with
challenges and creativity.
